Louisa + John’s Intimate Happy Valley Wedding

A few weeks before Louisa + John’s wedding day, we met them while photographing their friends Carly + Glenn’s celebration. (Huge thanks to the Toscani family referral chain and to Kristin of Bel Momento Events for connecting us!) Louisa later asked if we’d travel to Happy Valley, Pennsylvania for a small, 40-guest wedding. Our answer? Absolutely yes.

We kicked off the weekend with a little location scouting at Penn’s Caverns and a stop at Happy Valley Brewing Company—a 100-year-old barn turned rustic restaurant that instantly sparked our wedding photographer hearts with its character and texture.

John, an NFL-player-turned-mathematician, and Louisa, a talented writer, brought their own unique energy to the day. John preferred candid moments to formal portraits (challenge accepted!), so we leaned into our documentary wedding photography style, keeping posed portraits to under seven minutes and focusing on natural, unscripted images.

The ceremony took place at The Rock Garden B&B, overlooking the valley and framed by rolling Pennsylvania hills. Guests included familiar faces from Carly + Glenn’s wedding, and the couple’s four-month-old daughter, Joanna, stole every heart (and a lot of camera time). Louisa’s sister officiated a heartfelt mountaintop ceremony that left everyone—us included—teary-eyed.

From the quiet, emotional vows to the laughter echoing across the hills, this intimate Pennsylvania wedding reminded us exactly why we love what we do: telling love stories with timeless, candid photography.
